Summary:
The Director of New Business Development will own and lead new business growth strategy. This individual is responsible for driving top-line revenue by aggressively pursuing, managing, and closing new business opportunities while also expanding existing client accounts.
This role requires an entrepreneurial, process-driven leader who thrives on building relationships, setting structure and standards, implementing sales systems/CRM tools, and relentlessly moving opportunities from lead to close. The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of the personal care industry with exceptional sales acumen, ensuring the company maximizes every new business opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Own the entire lead-to-close process, ensuring opportunities move efficiently through the pipeline.
- Aggressively pursue and close new business opportunities that align with company capabilities.
- Expand existing client accounts by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Establish and exceed ambitious revenue growth targets.
- Implement and optimize CRM and pipeline management tools to drive accountability and forecasting accuracy.
- Develop standardized processes and KPIs for handling leads, proposals, negotiations, and client follow-up.
- Monitor and analyze pipeline performance to continuously improve conversion rates.
- Serve as the face of the company for new prospects and key accounts, positioning the company as the premier partner in contract manufacturing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers at target brands and existing clients.
- Attend trade shows and industry events as an ambassador to generate leads and expand brand visibility.
- Shepherd a cross-functional team of internal experts—including R&D, Operations, Regulatory, Project Management, and Finance—that functions as a “Sales Committee” to strategically support deal closure and ensure alignment on capabilities, costs, and timelines.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align new business strategies with overall company goals.
- Provide market and competitive insights to inform sales strategies.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure seamless handoff of closed deals into pre-production.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive business development, sales, or account management experience, preferably in the personal care, beauty, or consumer goods industry.
- Background in contract manufacturing or B2B sales within beauty/personal care is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the personal care industry, with the ability to credibly speak to product categories, trends, and client needs.
- Proven track record of closing deals and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
- Experience implementing and managing CRM systems and pipeline processes.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Highly organized and process-oriented, with ability to bring structure to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Comfort in both strategic selling and hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves execution.
- A proactive, results-driven closer who thrives on turning opportunities into revenue and isn’t afraid to own the numbers.
- A builder of systems and structure who can implement CRM tools, establish best practices, and bring process discipline to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- A relationship-focused leader who can confidently represent the company, strengthen client partnerships, and identify opportunities for continued growth.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves leader that is comfortable being both strategic and in the weeds to get things done.
