Summary:
Seeking an experienced leader to oversee the daily operations and personnel of a wastewater treatment facility, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and efficient plant performance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct operations staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
- Maintain and analyze records of plant operations, preparing reports on efficiency, chemical usage, and equipment downtime.
- Oversee customer billing, contract management, and verification of sludge transport and disposal documentation.
- Monitor and implement compliance with state and federal environmental regulations and operational best practices.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding plant operations, maintenance priorities, and regulatory matters.
- Serve as a backup for compliance-related duties, including permit sampling, noncompliance notifications, and regulatory paperwork.
- Authorize and verify purchase orders and manage inventory related to plant operations.
- Perform additional duties as required, including attending meetings and supporting plant maintenance and operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary 4-year degree or 15 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance, with supervisory experience.
- Experience with computers, customer billing, and record keeping.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License required.
- Class "A" Wastewater certification preferred.
- Knowledge of activated sludge wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, chemical application, and receiving station operations.
- Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations for wastewater treatment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and proficiency with computer programs for data review and reporting.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations, operate vehicles, and work in both indoor and outdoor industrial environments under varying weather conditions.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, climb, and manipulate equipment as required for plant inspection and operations.
