Job Title: Research Associate I, Cell Culture

Work Location: Bristol County, Massachusetts

Summary:

Seeking a Research Associate I specializing in cell culture to support research and development activities. The role involves performing cell culture procedures, maintaining accurate records, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Regular travel between two locations within Massachusetts is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cell culture activities including media preparation, cell passaging, transfection, and viability assays using aseptic techniques.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including bioreactors and WAVE systems, following established SOPs in a GMP environment.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records in compliance with Quality Assurance guidelines and prepare research reports as needed.
  • Interpret laboratory test results and troubleshoot technical issues related to cell culture processes.
  • Support weekend cell maintenance activities, which may require independent work based on project needs and experience.
  • Perform performance and analysis evaluations of endotoxin/glucan products and ensure proper operation and maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
  • Provide training and supervision to junior team members as necessary to ensure proper laboratory practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc or BA) in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biochemical engineering, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in cell culture work using aseptic techniques required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a GMP laboratory setting as a team member preferred.
  • Strong general knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, and biology.
  • Training and experience in standard cell culture concepts, practices, and general laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to perform cell culture activities such as media preparation, cell passaging, production, harvest/filtration, and transfection.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
