Job Title: Swiss Set-Up Operator

Position Summary
The Swiss Set-Up Operator is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and operating Swiss-style CNC lathes to produce high-precision medical components. This role plays a critical part in ensuring dimensional accuracy, process efficiency, and compliance with medical device quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate Swiss-style CNC lathes (e.g., Star, Citizen, Tsugami, or similar)

Perform machine changeovers, tooling setup, and program adjustments as needed

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions

Select, install, and align cutting tools, guide bushings, and fixtures

Monitor production runs to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards

Perform first-article inspections and in-process checks using precision measuring tools

Troubleshoot machining issues and make offset or tooling adjustments

Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes

Maintain compliance with GMP and ISO quality standards

Document setup parameters and inspection results
Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience setting up Swiss-style CNC lathes

Experience machining small, tight-tolerance components

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T

Strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds, and speeds

Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical preferred)
Preferred Qualifications

Experience machining medical components (cannulated tools, nitinol, wires, tubing)

Familiarity with ISO 13485 and GMP environments

Basic CNC programming or program editing experience
