Our client, a leading biotechnology company, is hiring an Upstream Process Development Scientist II.
Work Location: Suffolk County, Massachusetts
Summary:
This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the advancement of gene therapy manufacturing through innovative process development and optimization of Lenti Viral Vector production.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine upstream production processes for viral vectors using shake flasks and benchtop bioreactors.
- Design and conduct experiments aimed at improving yield, scalability, and product quality.
- Independently culture and passage mammalian cell lines, ensuring aseptic technique and culture health.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate materials, timelines, and share technical insights.
- Oversee raw material and experimental inventory to support ongoing development activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental data in electronic lab notebooks and databases.
- Analyze and interpret experimental results, presenting findings in team meetings.
- Contribute to a collaborative and innovative laboratory environment, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience with mammalian suspension cell culture in industry or academic settings.
- Familiarity with aseptic technique, sterile workflows, maintenance of suspension seed trains and cell banks, and transient transfection (preferred but not required).
- Strong attention to detail in planning, executing, and documenting laboratory experiments.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proactive, collaborative approach with a willingness to seek input and propose solutions.
- Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
