Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance: Establish and enforce comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (EHS) policies. Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, etc.), including hazardous material handling and PPE protocols.

  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods. Conduct regular cycle counts and reconciliations within ERP/WMS systems to ensure data accuracy. Manage product lifecycles, expiration dates, and non-conforming goods.

  • Operations Oversight: Manage daily workflows including receiving, staging for production, and outbound shipping. Optimize facility layout and space utilization. Drive continuous improvement through 5S and LEAN manufacturing methodologies.

  • Production Coordination: Partner with plant management, quality assurance, and planning teams to ensure seamless material flow. Participate in incident investigations and execute corrective/preventive action plans.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor warehouse staff. Establish performance goals, manage scheduling, and foster a culture of safety and productivity. Maintain operations in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards.

  • Logistics and Documentation: Coordinate with external vendors, clients, and carriers. Manage the transport of specialized goods, ensuring all shipping records and safety documentation are accurate and complete.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the safe operation and preventative maintenance of all warehouse machinery, including forklifts and racking systems.

  • Budgeting and Reporting: Manage the annual department budget and analyze variances. Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for executive review.


Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience: Proven track record in warehouse management within a manufacturing or highly regulated industrial environment.

  • Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), alongside standard office productivity suites.

  • Certifications: Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain one); specialized certification for regulated material transport is a plus.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, analytical problem-solving, and organizational communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.

  • Direct experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S implementation.

  • Experience in high-touch client interaction and technical staff collaboration.
