Summary:
Seeking a Receiving Technician to support biorepository operations, focusing on the management, handling, and documentation of biological samples in compliance with regulatory standards and standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, inventory, and document biological materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
- Safely handle and store samples using dry ice, liquid nitrogen, or other temperature-controlled methods as required.
- Prepare and ship biological materials, maintaining quality standards and minimizing errors.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork for quality review and regulatory compliance.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including OSHA bloodborne pathogen protocols, when working with potentially infectious materials.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding client information and sample data.
- Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed.
- Assist with special projects and support additional biorepository functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in life sciences, healthcare, or a related discipline, or 2–3 years of equivalent education or experience in biological sciences or a similar field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a laboratory setting performing relevant techniques preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact professionally.
- Understanding of scientific and clinical repository operations, regulations, and terminology is highly desirable.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency with computers; experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is a plus.
- Experience in laboratory or clinical specimen management preferred.
- Comfortable with rotating on-call responsibilities, including weekends and holidays.
