Business Development Director

Summary:
The Business Development Director is responsible for driving commercial growth and expanding partnerships within the U.S. life sciences sector. This role focuses on translating technical capabilities into strategic alliances, managing the contract lifecycle, and representing the organization at key industry events. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in CRO/preclinical services sales to cultivate long-term relationships and deliver high-value solutions to clients.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and penetrate new market segments to achieve and surpass commercial expansion targets in the U.S. life sciences sector.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of industry decision-makers, ensuring tailored service and fostering client loyalty.
- Lead the technical bidding process, including drafting RFPs, preparing cost estimates, and negotiating confidentiality and service agreements.
- Monitor industry trends and provide actionable market intelligence to inform competitive strategies.
- Represent the organization at major industry events, identifying and leveraging branding opportunities.
- Collaborate with laboratory teams to review technical reports, ensuring data accuracy and professional client delivery.
- Drive sophisticated lead generation and cultivate long-term industry alliances to support revenue growth.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring high-quality service and satisfaction throughout the partnership lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Experience in CRO/preclinical services sales required; scientific background is a plus but not mandatory.
- Approximately 2–4 years or more of successful business development experience in the CRO or biotech sector.
- Strong network of professional contacts within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
- Advanced understanding of the preclinical drug discovery and development pipeline.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage in complex technical discussions.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively for partner engagement and industry events.
