Job Title: Business Development Director

Summary:

The Business Development Director will drive commercial growth by establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships within the preclinical and CRO services sector. This role is responsible for expanding market presence, managing the contract lifecycle, and representing the organization at key industry events. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in business development, preferably within the life sciences or biotech industry, and demonstrate exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the U.S. preclinical and CRO services market to achieve ambitious growth targets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
  • Lead the end-to-end contract process, including drafting proposals, estimating costs, and negotiating agreements.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence to inform and refine competitive strategies.
  • Represent the organization at major industry conferences and networking events to enhance brand visibility and identify partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure the accuracy and quality of client-facing reports and deliverables.
  • Utilize existing professional networks to facilitate introductions and accelerate business development efforts.
  • Operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating leadership and adaptability while traveling as needed for business engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 2–4 years or more of successful business development experience in the CRO, biotech, or life sciences sector.
  • Strong understanding of the preclinical drug discovery and development pipeline.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage professional networks within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage in complex technical discussions.
  • Proven track record of working independently and driving results in a high-stakes environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively for client meetings and industry events.
  • Scientific background is a plus but not required.
