Work Location: Middlesex County, MA
Summary:
Seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to support routine and scalable testing of discovery compounds in cell-based cytosolic exposure (CE) assay workflows. This is a contract position with a focus on executing and optimizing cellular assays to advance next-generation molecules.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily CE assay testing for discovery compounds, including all steps from cell seeding to endpoint measurement and primary quality control.
- Ensure consistent assay performance by utilizing controls, reference standards, and monitoring key metrics for quality assurance.
- Support compound testing workflows to enable rapid iteration of structure–activity relationships in collaboration with scientific teams.
- Compile, organize, and present assay data for team discussions, clearly communicating results and any observed anomalies.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to cell health, reagent performance, and equipment, implementing process improvements as needed.
- Assist with reagent qualification, robustness checks, and method transfers among team members and equipment.
- Maintain laboratory spaces and equipment, manage inventory, and prepare routine buffers, media, and reagents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in chemistry, biology, and data science to ensure timely and high-quality data delivery.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field with approximately 6+ years of relevant industry experience; or M.S. with approximately 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique.
- Proficiency in executing plate-based assays, including multichannel pipetting and/or liquid handling.
- Strong attention to detail, data quality, and consistent documentation; ability to work according to SOPs and timelines.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in an on-site, cross-functional environment.
- Experience supporting or running liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) assays, including sample preparation and data interpretation.
- Familiarity with cell-based uptake/trafficking measurements, such as fractionation workflows or confocal microscopy support.
- Experience with proximity-dependent cellular readouts (e.g., NanoBiT/NanoBRET) or other CE/uptake-enabled assay formats.
- Background in oncology and/or peptide modalities is a plus.
- Experience with automation (liquid handlers), high-throughput assay operations, and assay QC statistics is preferred.
