BMET II

Summary:
The BMET II role is responsible for performing maintenance, inspections, and calibrations on a wide range of clinical biomedical equipment to ensure safety and functionality. This position supports clinical staff and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various types of biomedical equipment, including infusion pumps, patient monitors, respiratory devices, and operating room equipment.
- Conduct planned maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and performance assurance on clinical equipment to ensure mechanical and electrical safety.
- Install new biomedical equipment and perform incoming inspections to verify operational readiness and compliance with standards.
- Assist senior technicians with complex troubleshooting and major repairs, contributing to team-based problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal equipment management plans, maintaining accurate service records in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Follow safety protocols related to hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and device safety, adhering to OSHA and facility policies.
- Develop strong working relationships with clinical staff, communicate equipment status and service timelines, and prioritize customer service requests.
- Support inventory control by auditing equipment, verifying asset status, and recommending updates to inventory records and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with clinical biomedical equipment in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
- Technical degree or equivalent required.
- Proficiency with electromechanical and computerized biomedical devices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret error codes and utilize diagnostic software.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated accountability, integrity, and customer service orientation.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and knowledge of accrediting agencies.
- Ability to prioritize workload, mentor junior technicians, and work collaboratively within a team.
- Must follow safety guidelines, complete safety training, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, distinguish temperature ranges, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and color differentiation.
