In Vivo Technician

Work Location: New Haven County, Connecticut

Summary:

Seeking a part-time In Vivo Technician to support laboratory operations on weekends and holidays. This contract role involves hands-on work with animal models, drug formulation, and administration, requiring reliability and attention to detail. The position is ideal for candidates with experience in animal research and a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute drug formulation protocols according to established guidelines.
  • Administer compounds to animal models using various routes, including intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, and oral methods.
  • Monitor animal health and behavior, documenting and reporting any atypical findings to senior staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of dosing, observations, and experimental procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and animal welfare regulations at all times.
  • Coordinate with team members to provide coverage during weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Assist in the upkeep and organization of the laboratory environment and supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth workflow and address any issues promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work Saturdays and approximately half of the holidays, with typical shifts of 4-8 hours.
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with animals, preferably in an In Vivo research setting.
  • Proficiency in rodent handling and dosing techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
