Technical Account Manager

Summary:
Seeking a results-oriented Technical Account Manager to oversee and expand a portfolio of key accounts in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic sectors. This role blends relationship management, technical consultation, and revenue growth, requiring expertise in synthetic biology solutions and customer workflows. The position serves as a trusted advisor, aligning technical capabilities with client research and development needs while driving account expansion and fostering long-term partnerships.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic accounts, ensuring revenue retention and identifying expansion opportunities.
- Develop and implement account plans to uncover upsell and cross-sell potential across a range of service offerings.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, building strong, long-term relationships and conducting regular business reviews.
- Understand client research pipelines, business objectives, and technical requirements to proactively identify solutions.
- Translate complex scientific capabilities into tailored solutions, collaborating with internal teams to develop proposals.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery and address risks or issues as they arise.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts and through inbound/outbound leads, maintaining accurate pipeline tracking.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies, providing market feedback to support product and service innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in account management, sales, or customer success within biotech, life sciences, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology or synthetic biology workflows (such as gene synthesis, cloning, sequencing).
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and drive revenue growth.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline preferred.
- Experience working with CDMOs, CROs, or synthetic biology service providers preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms (such as HubSpot or Salesforce) and sales pipeline management preferred.
- Experience supporting clients in pharmaceutical, biotech, or academic research environments preferred.
