Job Title: Business Development Manager

Summary:
The Business Development Manager will play a critical role in expanding market presence by identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving sales growth. This role requires a deep understanding of the biotechnology industry and the ability to collaborate with internal teams to ensure client success.
Responsibilities:
- Market Research & Analysis: Identify potential markets, new business opportunities, and competitive trends in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors.
- Lead Generation & Client Acquisition: Develop and implement strategies to target prospective clients, including outreach, networking, and partnerships. Reach out to these potential new clients by advertising services via e-mails or phone calls, showcasing expertise and the benefits of DNA technology.
- Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior management to design and execute business development strategies that align with company goals and growth objectives.
- Client Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs and aligning services to meet them.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, technical, and sales, to develop tailored solutions for clients and deliver successful outcomes.
- Contract Negotiation & Closing: Manage the proposal process, including pricing negotiations, to close deals that drive revenue growth.
- Partnership Development: Identify and establish partnerships with key industry stakeholders, academic institutions, and research organizations.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and sales metrics to assess the success of business development efforts. Prepare reports for management.
- Identify target clients and ideal customers from research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, synthetic biology companies, IVD companies, and biotech startups.
- Analyze customer activity, understand their characteristics, needs, and challenges, and work to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Engage in continuous learning to understand the intricacies of offerings and how they meet client needs.
- Maintain and update the CRM system with accurate customer information, sales activities, and lead statuses.
- Provide regular updates on sales activities, leads, and conversion rates to the senior management team.
- Identify and capitalize on cross-selling and upselling opportunities to drive revenue growth.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in biology, Biotechnology, Business, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships in the biotechnology or life sciences sectors.
- Proven track record of driving sales growth and building strong client relationships.
- Strong understanding of the synthetic biology industry, including trends, competitors, and potential customers.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with a results-driven mindset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot) and other business development tools.
- Established network within the biotechnology and life sciences industries.
