Job Title: CMM Programmer/Inspector
Work Location: Passaic County, NJ
Summary:
Seeking a skilled CMM Programmer/Inspector to program, set up, and operate CMM equipment for dimensional inspection of plastic injection-molded components, tooling, and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have experience with CMM programming software and a strong understanding of metrology principles and GD&T.
Responsibilities:
- Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment (e.g., Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Hexagon, or similar) using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or other relevant software.
- Conduct detailed dimensional inspections of plastic injection-molded components, tooling, and assemblies per engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer requirements.
- Interpret and apply engineering blueprints, 3D CAD models, and technical specifications to inspection processes.
- Maintain, verify, and calibrate measurement equipment to ensure accuracy and traceability.
- Generate and document First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), PPAP documentation, and other quality control reports.
- Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and tool room teams to identify and resolve dimensional or process-related quality issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing data and recommending process adjustments or improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or technical training preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in dimensional inspection or CMM programming, preferably in an injection molding or precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and metrology principles.
- Experience with measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, height gauges, vision systems, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other quality management systems preferred.
- Background in plastic part dimensional control or mold qualification processes preferred.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and occasional standing or lifting (up to 40 lbs).
- Regular collaboration with production, toolroom, and engineering departments.
