Job Title: Medical Assistant

Summary:
Seeking a Medical Assistant to support oncology patient care by performing clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced environment. This role involves direct patient interaction, coordination of care, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure quality service throughout the treatment process.
Responsibilities:
- Manage patient intake, including greeting, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and updating demographic information in the EMR system.
- Document patient screening data, take vitals, and ensure all required information is accurately entered into the EMR.
- Coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and outside referrals, including lab, testing, and scanning schedules.
- Handle all incoming calls, route messages, process prescription refill requests, and maintain thorough records of patient interactions.
- Assist with medication administration, including preparing supplies for nursing staff, dispensing medications, and documenting in the MAR.
- Monitor patient flow, manage no-shows and cancellations, and ensure timely rescheduling and communication with patients.
- Support onboarding and training of new Medical Assistants, serve as a preceptor, and oversee workflow within the clinic.
- Collaborate with providers, back office, and management to coordinate patient care, obtain prior authorizations, and ensure compliance with clinic protocols.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills and knowledge of medical laboratory procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to multitask, set priorities, and organize work to meet deadlines in compliance with established processes and regulations.
- Demonstrated assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skills; ability to maintain emotional stability in stressful situations.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in EMR systems.
- Fluency in Spanish (required); previous oncology/hematology experience preferred.
