Job Title: R&D Formulation Tech
Work Location: Union County, New Jersey
Summary:
Seeking an R&D Formulation Tech to support formulation activities by accurately weighing, mixing, and processing raw materials according to provided formulas. This role involves hands-on operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, inventory management, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The position is part-time (20 hours/week), on-site, and offers flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Weigh and transfer raw materials using calibrated equipment, ensuring accuracy in accordance with formulation requirements.
- Maintain, sanitize, and organize laboratory equipment and workspace to ensure a clean and efficient environment.
- Prepare and mix flavor ingredients precisely for use in food, beverages, and other consumable products.
- Execute sample preparation requests, including benchtop batches, pilot-scale quantities, and trial-size samples.
- Organize, track, and maintain inventory of raw materials, chemicals, and lab supplies necessary for sample preparation.
- Perform basic math calculations and follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
- Support shipping and sampling requirements, including preparation of shipping materials and maintenance of the shipping area.
- Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, quality, and regulatory standards, maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
Qualifications:
- Experience with compounding, weighing, and blending materials (training provided for other tasks).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic math skills required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and documentation.
- Experience in a laboratory or food science environment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in food science or related field preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
