Job Title: Estimator

Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical layouts. This role requires strong drafting skills, a solid understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and reliable project costing.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and update budgetary and final cost estimates based on preliminary and conceptual design drawings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with engineering resources to address unique project requirements and assist in the costing process for specialized designs.
- Maintain and enhance proprietary estimating tools and databases, ensuring all cost data is current and organized for future reference.
- Conduct comparative analysis using regional construction benchmarks and provide detailed risk assessments for each project estimate.
- Prepare clear and detailed explanations of estimates, including man-hour allocations and required personnel resources for each task.
- Support project teams by providing real-time costing for on-site work requests, change orders, and research and design initiatives.
- Track and analyze key project metrics, perform complex data analysis, and generate reliable forecasts to support project planning.
- Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training in Engineering, Construction Science, Technology, or Math.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience using design software in a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Construction Estimator.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Experience with complex data research, data analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Strong documentation skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects.
- Ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines, work independently or as part of a team, and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
- Aptitude for building design and willingness to specialize in pharmaceutical facilities design is a plus.
- Ability to make informed decisions, provide recommendations, and analyze information skillfully.
