Job Title: Chemist

Summary:

Seeking a Chemist to join a technical team focused on polymer and materials performance testing in challenging environments. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, problem-solving, and the development of customized test regimens to qualify materials and components for real-world service conditions. The position supports rigorous test plan execution and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee laboratory use of hazardous chemicals and assess chemical safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Set up, conduct, and analyze tests using established standards and specifications.
  • Prepare, review, and revise final reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and coordinate comprehensive chemical safety programs and maintain compliance with safety policies.
  • Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions using document control systems.
  • Maintain and manage chemical and material inventories, ensuring proper segregation, labeling, storage, and expiration management.
  • Receive, inspect, and log incoming chemicals and test materials, verifying sample integrity and reconciling with stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders regarding sample receipt, discrepancies, documentation, and status updates, while following quality system requirements and reporting nonconformances or safety concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, science, or chemical engineering (required).
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals or working in laboratory, industrial, or oil & gas environments (strongly preferred).
  • Working knowledge of laboratory testing methods and equipment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of SDS and safety precautions for chemical storage, mixing, use, and disposal.
  • Experience in quality control, including conducting tests and inspections to evaluate quality performance.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail in completing work tasks.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely handle and move boxes and containers of chemicals and materials (must be able to lift up to 25 lbs).
