Job Title: Manager, Clinical Research Oncology

Work Location: Peoria County, Illinois

Summary:

Lead and manage clinical research operations for oncology trials, focusing on the advancement of cancer detection and treatment. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, oversight of clinical research activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires strong leadership, expertise in clinical trial management, and the ability to foster partnerships with investigators and external organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the conduct and development of clinical research projects, with a focus on oncology trials.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, investigators, and interdisciplinary teams to identify and match research opportunities with faculty interests.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies for all clinical research activities.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to research staff, including research nurses and coordinators.
  • Serve as a liaison to industry partners, community healthcare providers, and academic collaborators to expand research initiatives.
  • Manage the prioritization and oversight of clinical trial activities, including sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.
  • Support grant applications, program development, and the promotion of clinical research within the organization.
  • Monitor research budgets, billing, and financial compliance, ensuring adherence to federal and institutional guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct clinical research experience, with at least 3 years in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Experience in clinical trial design, management, and oversight of both sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software applications.
  • Oncology clinical trial experience preferred.
  • Current Research Certification (ACRP, SOCRA, HCCA, CIP, etc.) preferred.
  • RN licensure or 5+ years of clinical experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of leadership, direct supervision, or management experience preferred.
  • Experience working with industry sponsors, outside agencies, and in areas such as coding, billing/finance, vendor relations, EPIC, CTMS, hospital administration, project management, and policy creation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations (FDA, OHRP, ORI, DHHS, NIH, CMS), Medicare billing rules, and Medicare Clinical Trial Policy preferred.
