Job Title: R&D Chemist/Formulator

Summary:
Seeking an R&D Chemist/Formulator to drive innovation and development of personal care and cosmetic products. This role involves laboratory research, prototype creation, technical support, and ensuring high-quality, compliant formulations ready for market.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute product development projects, formulating new and existing products and supporting innovation initiatives.
- Create and evaluate prototypes, conducting laboratory tests to assess chemical and physical properties such as texture, odor, pH, and viscosity.
- Research raw material properties and product formulations to optimize performance and compliance.
- Set initial product specifications and perform detailed documentation and data entry for all formulation activities.
- Provide technical support to cross-functional teams, including production and batching, and assist with troubleshooting and process improvements.
- Conduct laboratory investigations, root cause analyses, and recommend revisions to formulations or specifications as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all data analysis, formulation details, and update technical documents such as ingredient listings and product specifications.
- Utilize R&D software for formulation data entry, and manage software systems following training, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or Associate degree in Chemistry or related sciences.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience preferred; experience in personal care, cosmetics, food, or pharmaceutical industries is a plus.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and technical documentation.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; strong documentation and data entry skills.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities; logical thinking and ability to multitask under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience with PLM software (such as Good Face Project) and ERP systems (such as Aptean Process Pro) preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of cosmetics/beauty or OTC industry highly preferred; experience in high-volume manufacturing is a plus.
- Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and documentation standards (cGMP, cGLP, chemical waste management, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
