Mechanic, Critical Utilities Systems
Work Location: Bucks County, Pennsylvania
Summary:
Seeking a skilled professional to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical utility systems supporting GMP manufacturing and facility operations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards while providing technical support across multiple departments in an aseptic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain a variety of clean and black utility systems, including water, steam, compressed air, nitrogen, boilers, chillers, and emergency generators.
- Ensure all utility areas are consistently prepared for GMP inspections and maintain operational readiness.
- Respond promptly to equipment alarms, operational deviations, and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance following SOPs, OEM manuals, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support environmental monitoring and control systems, including data logging and interpretation as needed.
- Troubleshoot and assist with electrical systems, such as VFDs, pumps, and industrial power/control circuits.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, spare parts, and system status using CMMS and logbooks.
- Interpret and apply technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams for utility-related systems and support validation and change control efforts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or trade certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in utility system operations, facility maintenance, or mechanical systems within GMP, pharmaceutical, or industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of regulated manufacturing utility systems (WFI, steam, nitrogen, compressed air, HVAC, etc.).
- Proficiency in preventative maintenance, mechanical repair, and troubleshooting of utility systems.
- Working knowledge of industrial electricity (motors, relays, VFDs), piping/plumbing, controls/automation, and CMMS platforms (e.g., Blue Mountain, Maximo, SAP PM).
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and SOPs.
- Familiarity with cGMP, FDA, and EHS regulatory requirements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with basic to intermediate computer proficiency (MS Office, maintenance systems).
- Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, boiler operation) are a plus but not required.
