Technical Buyer

Work Location: Worcester County, Massachusetts

Summary:

Seeking a Technical Buyer to execute daily purchasing activities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role involves managing purchase orders, vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery and payment, while supporting procurement operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Execute and oversee purchase orders from initial requisition through to receipt and payment processing.
• Request bids, evaluate supplier quotes, and negotiate pricing and delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate vendor records, contracts, and item data within ERP/MRP systems.
• Communicate supply chain risks and delivery status updates to relevant internal teams.
• Assist in the development and tracking of supplier performance metrics and participate in supplier reviews and audits.
• Identify and recommend alternative suppliers and opportunities for cost savings within assigned commodities.
• Support compliance with procurement policies and contribute to process improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supply issues and ensure procurement objectives are met.

Qualifications:

• 1–5+ years of experience in transactional purchasing or related fields such as Supply Chain, Operations, or Finance.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems; experience with Epicor is advantageous.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high volume of purchase orders.
• APICS or ISM certification is beneficial.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or ISO standards is preferred.
• Experience with international purchasing is a plus.
