Job Title: Production Engineer

Summary:
The Production Engineer is responsible for leading manufacturing units to achieve safety, environmental, production, quality, and cost objectives. This role oversees daily operations in a chemical manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant production processes. The position involves supervising production staff, coordinating with other departments, and driving continuous improvement and capital projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise production staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Oversee daily plant operations, monitor production schedules, and adjust resources to meet production targets and customer demands.
- Implement and maintain production standards, quality control procedures, and ensure all activities comply with industry standards.
- Identify and execute process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs using lean manufacturing principles.
- Develop and manage capital projects and de-bottlenecking plans to support process improvements and product expansion.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and team meetings to communicate goals, provide updates, and address issues.
- Maintain accurate production records, prepare performance reports, and ensure effective allocation of raw materials, equipment, and labor.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives and meet department goals with minimal oversight.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- 3+ years of operations and/or process engineering experience in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing setting.
- 0-3+ years of supervisory experience in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong customer service skills, strategic thinking, excellent verbal and written communication, and technical aptitude.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
- Physically able to operate office equipment, occasionally lift up to 10 pounds, and work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, machinery, heat, humidity, and noise; use of personal protective equipment as required.
