Job Title: Financial Spec I, Clinical Trials

Work Location: Monroe County, New York

Summary:

This position provides support for both pre- and post-award financial management in clinical research, including budget development, sponsor negotiations, and maintenance of study calendars within a clinical trial management system (CTMS). The role is ideal for individuals interested in the intersection of finance and clinical trials, requiring strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the collection and preparation of data for study budgets, coverage analyses, and financial documentation, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.
  • Maintain and update financial information in CTMS and tracking tools, and build study calendars to align with protocol requirements.
  • Prepare draft invoices, monitor receivables, and support reconciliation activities by ensuring accurate data entry and alignment between CTMS and financial accounts.
  • Provide routine communication and documentation support to investigators, study teams, and financial staff involved in clinical research.
  • Participate in training, shadowing, and process improvement initiatives to enhance knowledge of financial workflows and systems.
  • Support administrative and transactional functions related to clinical research financial operations, including payment tracking and documentation.
  • Engage in professional development and contribute to process improvements within the clinical research financial environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinical research operations and team objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, life sciences, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 0–2 years of related experience in financial administration, healthcare, or research operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to learn CTMS and financial systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management.
  • Ability to interact professionally with faculty and staff at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and responsibility in managing priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Proven writing skills are highly desirable.
  • CLASP Certification required within one year of hire if not already certified.
