Job Title: Safety Specialist

Work Location: Kendall County, Texas

Summary:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role involves regular inspections, training, and coordination of safety initiatives to minimize risks and maintain regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee safety and environmental policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, regularly observing workplace practices for adherence.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and waste storage areas to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and verify implementation of safety measures.
  • Design and deliver training programs for staff and management on safety practices, emergency procedures, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Investigate incidents involving chemical spills or workplace injuries, gather information from involved parties, and prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and maintain safety records, including accident logs, MSDS files, and compliance documentation required by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Coordinate waste disposal activities, ensuring proper classification, documentation, and collaboration with external waste management providers.
  • Manage inventory and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety-related materials, ensuring adequate supply and proper usage.
  • Lead safety committee meetings, implement emergency response plans, and track monthly safety metrics to promote continuous improvement in workplace safety.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training in safety, environmental compliance, or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections and investigations.
  • Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience with emergency response planning and safety committee leadership is preferred.
