Job Title: Quality Lab Chemist - 2nd Shift
Work Location: Lancaster County, South Carolina
Summary:
This position supports laboratory testing activities in a safe environment, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks. The role involves learning laboratory processes, supporting testing, and troubleshooting instrumentation as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct release, stability, and special request testing on finished products and raw materials using established procedures and methods.
- Independently execute laboratory methods and procedures with minimal supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Adapt to changes in testing schedules and contribute to laboratory improvements as directed by management or team members.
- Assist in training new laboratory personnel and document training activities according to laboratory procedures.
- Maintain a safety-first mindset, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and properly maintained, and uphold a safe work environment.
- Operate and train on laboratory instrumentation such as balances, HPLC, GC, titrators, FTIR, UV/Vis spectrophotometer, polarimeter, and dissolution/disintegration equipment.
- Stay updated on relevant regulatory publications and ensure laboratory compliance with analytical applications, release specifications, and documentation practices.
- Support investigations of laboratory out-of-specification results and perform additional duties as assigned to meet organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry; concentrations in Biochemistry, Inorganic, Physical, or Polymer Chemistry preferred.
- 1+ years of laboratory experience in a cGMP environment preferred.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation, including Gas Chromatography (GC) and/or Liquid Chromatography (LC), preferred.
- Effective interpersonal and self-motivation skills, with the ability to interact across all personnel levels.
- Attention to detail and process analytical skills required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
- Competency in using fractions, decimals, commercial arithmetic, and basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Regular attendance and ability to work scheduled hours: Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-11:30pm, Friday 1:30pm-9:30pm.
