Job Title: Analysis Engineer

Work Location: Durham County, North Carolina

Summary:

Seeking an engineer to develop and apply advanced simulations for permanent magnet manufacturing processes, focusing on computational modeling, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate computational models for thermal, fluid, mechanical, and electromagnetic processes in manufacturing.
  • Utilize commercial simulation platforms to build and refine process simulations for key manufacturing steps.
  • Integrate simulation results with process data to drive process improvement and support product development.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate simulation outputs into process optimization workflows.
  • Design simulation studies to assess process sensitivities, identify potential failure modes, and guide experimental work.
  • Document modeling assumptions, boundary conditions, validation outcomes, and recommendations in accordance with quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts and automation tools for simulation data pre- and post-processing.
  • Adapt to evolving business needs by taking on additional tasks and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience building and validating process models using commercial simulation software such as ANSYS (Mechanical, Maxwell, ROCKY, Fluent), COMSOL Multiphysics, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer modeling, and mechanical stress/strain analysis.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB for simulation setup, data extraction, and post-processing.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple modeling projects and communicate technical results to cross-functional teams.
  • Eligibility as a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Experience modeling metal manufacturing processes (e.g., sintering, casting, powder compaction, forging, heat treatment) is a plus.
  • Background in particle-level modeling, electromagnetic simulation, microstructure-evolution modeling, or multiphysics coupled simulations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with GPU-accelerated computing, HPC environments, or cloud-based simulation platforms is beneficial.
  • Experience in production, industrial, or R&D environments with exposure to manufacturing constraints and process validation is preferred.
