Associate Director / Director, Inpatient Clinical Operations

Summary:

Seeking an experienced leader to oversee inpatient clinical operations, focusing on optimizing research activities and ensuring the successful execution of clinical trials within inpatient units. This role involves managing multiple unit managers, standardizing processes, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise inpatient unit managers to ensure effective clinical operations across multiple sites.
  • Develop and implement standardized workflows and performance metrics for inpatient clinical research.
  • Oversee the execution of clinical trials within inpatient settings, ensuring adherence to protocols and timelines.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, sponsors, investigators, and site teams to drive operational excellence.
  • Monitor study enrollment, visit execution, staffing utilization, and overall study progress.
  • Ensure compliance with GCP, ICH guidelines, SOPs, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Recruit, coach, and manage operational leaders, fostering professional development and high performance.
  • Identify operational risks and implement solutions to enhance patient experience and study delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in clinical research operations.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing managers or multi-site teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry-sponsored clinical trials is required.
  • Background in inpatient research units, hospital-based trials, or complex clinical operations is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong business acumen, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Phase I-IV clinical trials, multi-site leadership, and scaling operations during growth periods is preferred.
