Senior Facilities Engineer

Work Location: Middlesex County, Massachusetts

Summary:

The Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of facility systems and infrastructure. This role focuses on optimizing facilities operations, maintaining critical systems, and ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and regulations across multiple sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the creation and continuous improvement of facility maintenance programs to enhance operational performance.
  • Supervise the upkeep and functioning of essential systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and assessments to verify system functionality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Establish and enforce safety protocols for facility operations, including hazardous waste management and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with various teams to address operational and safety concerns, ensuring smooth facility management.
  • Oversee facility projects, including upgrades and repairs, while managing budgets, timelines, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure all facility operations comply with relevant safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.
  • Lead and train facility maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to operational and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in facilities management, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to develop and optimize maintenance programs for maximum facility performance.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols, with experience maintaining safety standards in facilities management.
  • Proficiency with facility management software and building systems.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting, resource allocation, and contractor coordination.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor maintenance staff.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, EPA) and ability to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving operational and safety challenges.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to respond to off-hour emergencies as needed.
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) or related field, or equivalent experience in facilities engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in facilities maintenance management or engineering, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Relevant licensure or certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields.
  • Experience with industrial manufacturing or large-scale facility operations preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Specific vision abilities required, including peripheral vision and depth perception.
