Summary:
Seeking an experienced professional to lead procurement and planning of direct materials, including electrical, mechanical, and consumable components, within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring material availability, driving cost-reduction initiatives, supplier negotiations, and continuous improvement across the supply base.
Responsibilities:
- Lead procurement and planning for direct materials, ensuring timely support for production needs.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost reductions, improved lead times, and favorable commercial terms.
- Develop and implement cost-out strategies, including should-cost analysis and leveraging volume for savings.
- Monitor and manage purchase price variance, identifying trends and executing corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate planning parameters such as lead times, safety stock, and minimum order quantities in ERP/MRP systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support supplier changes, alternate sourcing, and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Drive supplier performance through scorecards, regular reviews, and corrective action plans.
- Identify and mitigate supply risks while balancing inventory, service levels, and cost objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in direct materials procurement and planning.
- Demonstrated success in driving cost reductions and leading supplier negotiations.
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and planning logic (such as SAP).
- Experience managing electrical, mechanical, and/or consumable components.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience leading sourcing or resourcing initiatives is a plus.
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) preferred.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities preferred.
